Our businesses and our employees want to contribute to developing the communities where we live, work and do business. One of the ways we help is by providing safe, adequate and affordable housing for those in need.
Cargill provides funding and support to build and repair homes in the local communities. In partnership with the Habitat for Humanity Malaysia, Cargill employees built two homes located in Lenggeng and Kampung Bangkong in 2011. Cargill also provided funding for the house-build. The houses benefitted low income and underprivileged families identified by Habitat for Humanity.
Over 80 employees volunteered to help improve the living condition of these families from mixing cement to laying bricks and restructuring walls.
Cargill continues to actively support Habitat for Humanity in Malaysia to build and repair houses in the community for those in need.
Part of a Global Partnership
Our collaboration in Malaysia is part of our global partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. At the end of 2010, Cargill had invested nearly US$ 3.75 million to build more than 400 homes in 19 countries on six continents. In Thailand alone, Cargill had built 111 houses at the end of 2010.
